Herringbone // Dots

November 11, 2013

Happy Monday, fashionistas.  I hope you're having a fabulous day so far.  I'm here to share an outfit that I wore a couple of weeks ago when I went apple picking for Fall!  Our day was glorious… there was cider donuts, apple cider, every type of fresh apple you can imagine, and even apple pie.  It was absolutely wonderful to catch some fresh air in the gorgeous mountains.  It was sort of chilly since we were so high up, so I was able to use a little layering action.  Do you think print-mixing will every be "out" again? I feel like it's been an ongoing trend for many seasons now.  I hope it's here to stay, as it's one of my favorite aspects of styling an outfit!

Have a great week! Thank you so much for reading!

Navy & Print

June 20, 2013

Wearing: Rachel Rachel Roy Dress (on sale!) via Macy's | Tommy Hilfiger Sandals (similar) | Prada Sunglasses | Bag c/o Oasap | Michael Kors Watch | Leopard J.Crew bracelet | Arrow Bangle (gifted) | Nails- Essie Fifth Avenue

I saw this dress a few months ago at Macy's and had to make it mine.  With my job I need to be comfortable, but I love feeling dressy and put together.  For me, this dress does exactly that.  It's nice and light, especially the navy part of it, so even thought it's a shirtdress, I can still rock it during the summer months!  I also see this being a great Fall season transition piece, as the colors are pretty adaptable to all seasons!  Also, I love my honey blonde hair, but for this summer I'm considering going back to platinum! Something like here, when my hair was super light.  What do you think? Hope you have an amazing Thursday, dear friends!  Thank you so much for reading!

Flamingo Stripes

June 16, 2013

This is one outfit that definitely screams "summer" for me. A denim vest is such a great layering piece for the hot months.  I've been wearing it with everything from pencil skirts and t-shirts to every sundress I own!  (My favorite is the vest with a white dress!)  My next summer item on trend is going to be a pair of overalls- I just need to go search for them at a local thrift store or Goodwill.

Maxi, Maybe

May 27, 2013

Wearing: Dress: c/o PB&J Boutique | Head Band: gift | Sunglasses: Prada | Sandals: Tommy Hilfiger via TJ Maxx (similar) | Bag: Kohls (similar) | Watch: Michael Kors

It's no secret that I've got a serious love affair with dresses- I mean, I have a whole separate rack in my closet dedicated to them!  So when PB&J boutique offered to send me a product from their store for review, I scoured the dresses section.  There are so many darling frocks, and the ones I was most attracted to were maxis! Honestly, as someone who's only 5'7", I'm not terribly short, but for some reason I used to feel super intimidated by wearing maxi dresses. Even though I'm an average height, I don't feel as though I have super long legs, which makes me feel extra short and goofy in them.  However, that fear is long gone, and I've embraced all things maxi!  Dresses and skirts alike, I'm on the hunt for as many maxis as I can find! This one especially is so light and comfortable. Perfect for those hot summer days!

I specifically chose to go minimal with the accessories in this ensemble, because I wanted the dress and my navy, floral headband to shine. But the very near future, I'll be pairing this with a white blazer and wedges to dress it up or a denim vest to add a fun twist. What about you? Do you adore maxi dresses or stick to a mini/ midi?

Summer Brights

May 19, 2013

Wearing: Top- Gap (similar) | Skirt- Target | Heels- Nine West | Neon Bag- Old Navy | Sunglasses- Prada | Watch- Michael Kors | Necklace- LOFT | Link/Leopard Bracelets- J.Crew | Lips- Nars "Funny Face"

Here you have it- Elle's hair without being blow dried, straightened, or anything.  I used to despise my curly hair and wouldn't be seen out of the house unless I had blow dried it at least, but sometimes I embrace the curl and just let it be.

I have two words to describe this outfit: flirty and feminine.  I love how bright and cheerful it looks. (So, four words, I guess.)  The combination of the hot pink lips and hot pink skirt with the yellow neon details is just so summery. I think this is about as "office style" as I can get for work too.  Most days chalk up to something similar to this: a pencil skirt and cute top, but I always end up wearing flats or sandals because of the high demand of being on my feet 24/7 with the kids!  Not that I'm complaining :)  One last thing- I think the gold detail of the belt really breaks up all the color and adds something to the outfit.  I know it's a tiny, skinny belt, but look at how much it pops!  I know this season it's supposed to be about the absence of color, but let's face it- I'm sort of committed to dressing colorfully, just look at the name of my blog!  Hope you have a fabulous week!

Lucky FABB Series: Day 2 Outfit

April 18, 2013

Wearing:
Top: Target (similar)
Skirt: Target (a summer must-buy!)
Belt: No Rest For Bridget
Bag: c/o Oasap
Watch: Michael Kors
Necklace: LOFT
Sunglasses: Prada

Oh, hello, Friday! It's been such a long week, but here is a fun, trendy outfit to brighten up your weekend! A few interesting points: this is a men's shirt. I specifically wanted it to be baggy and loose to have a very relaxed look. Let me tell ya, it looks amazing with boyfriend jeans and a cross-body coach (in cognac brown of course) but I wanted to make this shirt work with a more girly outfit. This is why I chose the brightest most feminine color and cut of skirt, then added a giant bow for emphasis. Of course, I just had to pair it with some bow toed heels to top it off.

The trick to getting a feminine waistline in a baggy shirt like this is adding the skinny belt- it offers some more shape to an otherwise very masculine top. To be honest, though, I wanted to be different at Lucky FABB especially. I feel like there are bloggers who play it safe because there are so many other bloggers that will be in the same space, but I really wanted to showcase my style and taste rather than throw on a dress and call it a day.  Up next is a recap of Lucky FABB day 2, and that will wrap up the FABB series... until next year!

Special thanks to my dearest, lovely, and talented friend Brittany LeSueur for taking these photographs! Have a lovely, lovely weekend. Thank you so much for reading!

Bright and Cheery

Dress: c/o eShakti
Blazer: boutique in Orange County
Wedges: Target (similar)
iPad Case (used as clutch) c/o Alicia Klein
Leopard Bangle: J.Crew (similar)
Watch: Michael Kors
Pave Link Bracelet: J.Crew
Nails: 'Sally Hansen' Mint Sorbet
Sunglasses: Prada

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to attend Lucky FABB. I had an absolute blast meeting lots of bloggers, and hanging out with some gorgeous girls I already know. I was also able to hear very inspirational speakers and presenters and the ins and outs of blogging! I cannot wait to share! I'll be posting my first Lucky FABB post later this week! Anyway, how bright and fun is this dress?! What you can't see is the gorgeous sweetheart neckline, but I have a feeling I'll be wearing it many more times this Spring and Summer. The dress is actually custom made for me courtesy of eShakti.com, a retro inspired clothing website! I just had to enter my measurements, and a week later, I had a darling dress that fit like a glove. There were so many pieces that I wanted to get, but a lot of them were already sold out. However, I saw the floral print on a bright backdrop, and knew I had to have this one. The A-line waist and light cotton fabric are my favorite part of the dress, I think!

Anyway, I'm not sure if you have heard that Google Friend Connect is going away, but that's the word on the street! Just in case, I don't want to lose you as a lovely reader of my blog. If you haven't switched over already, feel free to follow me on Bloglovin'! Thank you so much for reading!

Happy Valentine's Eve! I'm posting this video/outfit post because this is the ideal thing I'd wear on a Valentine's day date! Now, don't get me wrong, I love the traditional pink and red outfits- but to be honest, there are times where I don't want to be gimmicky, and I'd rather go for a bit of class! In my opinion, the subtle pop of pink of holiday-ish enough for me! There's lots of gems sprinkled within this outfit. The first being this sequin shirt. I love how I can layer it, wear it on it's own. Dress it up with a skirt, or dress it down with dark denim! The second gem is this gorgeous skirt. I wore it last week with a denim shirt and loved how flowy and fun the outfit was… but it's so versatile that I can also feature it as a statement in this romantic outfit! What's your ideal Valentine's outfit? Traditional pink or red? Or something glam/romantic? Thanks so much for reading!

p.s. special thanks to my wonderful Husband, J for filming and editing the video. He is truly a natural talent and I'm so lucky to have an aspiring photographer/videographer for a soul mate.
