Six Reasons I Love Having A Daughter

May 05, 2016

*Thanks to Maggy London for sponsoring this post.
Hi beautiful friends! Happy Friday. Today I'm sharing a few reasons why I love having a baby girl. She's my firstborn, the moon of my life, and my absolute best friend. I knew when I was pregnant that I was going to have a girl.
I get to teacher her to be an independent, strong woman. I am certainly not a pushover, and can hold my own, and I'm so glad that I get to teach Grace not to be weak, and stand by her beliefs, thoughts, or feelings.
We are in love with the same guy... for a while! Everyone knows daughters loooove their daddies. He just so happens to be the first love of my life too! (Gracie is the second of course!)
We can wear matching outfits. (Until she decides she's too cool for that.) Seriously, there's nothing better than a good mommy & me outfit - I live for days that we match, and you better believe I coordinate our outfits ALL the time, as much as possible!
I get to braid her hair. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I'm a bit braid-obsessed. Can you imagine how perfect Grace's hair will look in a dutch braid someday?! All the heart eyes.
I can be her best friend. No really, I can. I always pictured my daughter and I having a close relationship. I want her to feel comfortable telling me everything. The good, the bad, the ugly - I want to know it all. I am the eldest of seven children, six of whom are girls, so I am pretty experienced in hearing TMI things from my younger siblings, yet having to be strong/be there for them in a tough time. I feel like this skill will be helpful with my own daughter if/when the time comes.
I get to watch her become a mother someday. I can't wait to show Grace (in 25 years) pictures of her as a newborn, and pictures of me during my pregnancy. I want to share with her my love for breastfeeding, babywearing, and cloth diapering so she can try those things out if she wants to! I even have a baby carrier that I plan on using with all my kiddos then passing on to Grace for her first baby. Like a babywearing family heirloom <3

  4. How adorable are you both :) my Eve turns 17 later this month but I remember thinking a few of the same things when she was born, and today, I am so blessed to report that we are indeed best friends. Of course, there are certain things which she doesn't confide in me but for the most part, we can talk about anything and everything under the sun. We may love many of the same things but Eve is very much her own woman. I actually started having Mummy & Eve day with her when she turned around 10 months old. We'd go to the hair salon for a wash. Have breakfast at the cafe. That sort of thing :) I'm very sure yours with Grace will be equally overflowing with love and fun!!

Speaking of loveliness, my weekly Friday link-up is live and on the blog now, Elle, and I would love for you to come and share this vision, so adorable xoxo
