Motherhood | How To Pack A Diaper Bag

May 10, 2016

Hi beautiful friends! This post is perfect for any new or expecting mamas, or even ones who just want a diaper bag revamp! I was so overwhelmed by the amount of diaper bags and supplies that were available to me when I was registering, and I am so glad I took the time to research even after baby was born. Hope you enjoy the info!
Step 1: Choose a FABULOUS bag.
When I say fabulous, I mean a diaper bag that doesn't look like a diaper bag. I started out with a Petunia Picklebottom one, but I wasn't a fan of the obnoxious prints, and found myself wishing I had a different one to match all of my outfits. I was so happy when I found Lily Jade. This Lily Jade diaper bag above is the Meggan in Black! It has a million pockets, seriously... a removable insert, can be worn THREE different ways, and wipes clean! Did I mention that the inside is RED?! Yes, no more digging into the black hole that is the inside of your diaper bag! haha.
Step 2: Get your mom tools ready!
I never leave the house without my snacks [delicious raw almonds], a snack for Grace [her favorite is cucumbers], and a cute bib. (This one is from Bebe Au Lait, and I love how giant it is!) My hand sanitizer wipes, homemade sanitizing spray, and a book are also essentials since Grace is a total bookworm! Seriously, that girl prefers books over toys! Totally a teacher's kid!
3. Find a spot for everything.
Remember how I told you that the Lily Jade 'Meggan' bag has a removable insert? Well, there it is.. it's amazing! You can use it in other bags, if you need to, and there are SO many pockets! Make sure you find a practical place for everything. I keep my snacks, nursing cover, and wipes handy and at the top so they are easily accessible since I reach for those most! I also hook my keys to the little key ring so I always know where they are.
Above you can see the insert placed inside the diaper bag! (Alllll the heart eyes) and so much room on top! Below you can see all of the other things I was able to stuff in there! More books, my Bebe Au Lait nursing scarf (doubles as a high chair cover!), and a Charlie Banana cloth diaper + cute wet bag from Bebe Au Lait!
4. Don't forget your bonus items...
Bonus item for nursing mamas: I know there are lots of covers on the market, but this one is honestly one of my favorites! The yellow, Anara Bebe Au Lait nursing cover features an adjustable neck piece, and a

Bonus item for babywearing mamas: You must check out the Bebe Au Lait Carryall Tote if you wear your baby often! I actually leave my diaper bag in the car for quick trips, and bring this tote into stores with me for my wallet, keys, and some lipgloss! The tote is so convenient, and literally folds up into the size of a credit card when not in use! Priced at only $12, every mama should have one!

Lastly, I always keep 1-2 baby carriers in my car, because I'm a huge babywearing nerd! I love my soft structured carriers and wraps! To read more about my babywearing journey you can click here :)

I hope you enjoyed this post! Be sure to share it with some friends, if you did!

  1. A Lily Jade bag is definitely on my list of things to get ready for baby! Thanks for this post! I'm always skeptical if the stock pictures truly represent how much you can put in, but you are giving me some confidence that the bag maybe worth the price tag. Plus, I am going to use that sucker for awhile, so I don't want it falling apart after a couple months! Also...is that giraffe teether worthy of all the hype?
